"Poison" Candy Apples
Candy Apples
Combine your trick and your treat this Halloween with an activated charcoal Candy Apples-coated "poison" apple.
INGREDIENTS
- Nonstick spray
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons edible activated charcoal
- Black food coloring
- 6 to 8 apples
- Sprinkles, for decorating (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare à sheet tray with parchment paper and coat with nonstick spray.
- In à saucepan over medium-high heat, add water, sugar, corn syrup, charcoal and food coloring (if needed). Bring to à boil and simmer until sugar reaches hard-crack stage, 300 degrees.
- Insert à popsicle stick into each apple. When sugar is done, quickly dip each apple to coat. Decorate with sprinkles (optional), and place on prepared sheet tray to set.
